Bodybuilders and weight trainees began using Glutamine when it was revealed that when the muscles are in a Glutamine depleted state - such as that which can occur from training - dehydration of the tissues occurs, followed by a general reduction in muscle protein (a catabolic state) Glutamine depletion from training can also lead to immune disfunction due to insufficient supply of Glutamine for the creation of Glutathione. Glutamine supplemenation (in combination with a high protein diet), is the obvious remedy to these potential problems. Foe best results, use L-Glutamine with meals or protein drinks, and before/during and after training.
